Trāblus on the Big Screen. Between the 1930s and the end of the 20th century, films played a major role in the lives of Tripoli’s residents. The number of cinemas exceeded thirty. They were spread all over the city, from Al-Tal square to the Boulevard, through the inner districts, Bab al-Tabbaneh, and all the way to Al-Mina.
The city hasn’t been filmed much, Beirut remaining the big movie star, but for years now and despite the closure of movie theaters, Tripoli has been reviving its 7th art thanks to the Tripoli Film Festival and the film shootings that take place in its natural, untapped settings. A space-time travelling tour follows to explore Tripoli through the world of cinema. Films screening and round table moderated by Hady Zaccak & Zeina Daccache.
طرابلس على الشاشة الكبيرة. احتلت السينما في الحقبة بين عام 1930 وحتى نهاية القرن العشرين مكانةً بارزةً في حياة الطرابلسيين. وقد تخطى عدد صالات السينما الثلاثين، وكانت تتوزّع في جميع أرجاء المدينة، من ساحة التل إلى البوليفار مرورًا بالأحياء الداخلية في باب التبانة، وصولاً إلى المينا. لم تحظ هذه المدينة بفرصةٍ جدّيةٍ لتصويرها، فقد ظلّت بيروت النجمة السينمائية الأكبر، لكن منذ بضع سنوات، وعلى الرغم من إغلاق بعض صالات السينما، تُعيد طرابلس روابطها مع الفن السابع بفضل مهرجان طرابلس للأفلام وعرض الأفلام وسط مناظرها الطبيعية التي لم تصل يد البشر إليها بعد. إنه عبارة عن سفرٍ في الزمان والمكان، الهدف من ورائه هو استكشاف طرابلس عن طريق السينما. عرض أفلام وطاولة مستديرة يديرها هادي زكاك وزينة دكاش.
Tripoli sur grand écran. Le cinéma occupait une place prépondérante dans la vie des citadins tripolitains entre les années 1930 et la fin du XXème siècle. Le nombre de cinémas dépassait la trentaine. Ils étaient répartis dans toute la ville, de la place Al-Tal au Boulevard, en passant par les quartiers intérieurs, Bab al-Tabbaneh, et jusqu’à Al-Mina.
La ville n’a pas été tellement filmée, Beyrouth restant la grande star cinématographique mais depuis des années et malgré la fermeture des salles de cinéma, Tripoli renoue avec le 7eme art grâce au Tripoli Film Festival et aux tournages qui se déroulent dans ses décors naturels non exploités. Un travelling spatio-temporel s’ensuit pour explorer Tripoli à travers le cinéma. Projection de films et table ronde animée par Hady Zaccak & Zeina Daccache.
