ENG. Oscar Niemeyer, an Architect Committed to his Century is a film about the most prolific architect of the 20th century. One of the creators of Brasilia. It is the testimony of an artist who, until his death, believed in the socialist ideal. It is the story of a man who loves women. It is the adventure of a demanding personality, exiled in France under the Brazilian military dictatorship who all his life fought for his country.
In 2000, at the age of 92, Oscar Niemeyer received Marc-Henri Wajnberg at his home in Rio de Janeiro. He talks about Brazil, France, Kubitschek, Le Corbusier, Fidel Castro, Malraux… and about his life dedicated to architecture in a century upset by political ideologies and artistic movements.
FR. Oscar Niemeyer, an Architect Committed to his Century est un film sur l’architecte le plus prolifique du XXème siècle. L’un des créateurs de Brasilia. C’est aussi le témoignage d’un artiste qui, jusqu’à sa mort, a cru en l’idéal socialiste. C’est l’histoire d’un homme qui aime les femmes. C’est l’aventure d’une personnalité exigeante, exilée en France sous la dictature militaire brésilienne qui toute sa vie s’est battue pour son pays.
En l’an 2000, à 92 ans, Oscar Niemeyer reçoit chez lui à Rio de Janeiro Marc-Henri Wajnberg. Il lui parle du Brésil bien sûr, de la France, de Kubitschek, de Le Corbusier, de Fidel Castro, de Malraux … mais aussi de sa vie dédiée à l’architecture dans un siècle bouleversé par les idéologies politiques et les mouvements artistiques.
أوسكار نيماير، مهندس معماريّ ملتزم بقرنه هو فيلم عن المهندس المعماريّ الأكثر إنتاجًا في القرن العشرين. هو أحد مبتكري برازيليا. والفيلم أيضًا شهادة فنّان كان مؤمنًا، حتى وفاته، بالاشتراكيّ المثاليّ. هو قصّة رجل أحبَّ النساء. إنها مغامرة شخصية متطلبة، تمّ نفيها إلى فرنسا في ظلّ الديكتاتورية العسكرية البرازيلية. هو الرجل الذي قاتل طوال حياته من أجل بلاده.
استقبل أوسكار نيماير في عام ٢٠٠٠، وعن عمر يناهز ٩٢ عامًا، مارك هنري واينبرغ، في منزله في ريو دي جانيرو. أخذ يخبره طبعًا عن البرازيل، عن فرنسا، وكوبيتشيك، ولو كوربوزييه، وفيدل كاسترو، ومالرو … ولكن أيضًا عن حياته التي كرّسها للهندسة المعمارية، في قرن اهتزّ بسبب الأيديولوجيات السياسية والحركات الفنية

Marc Jampolsky who was born in 1956, is a French author and director of numerous documentaries on archaeology, the environment and history. After unlocking the architectural mysteries of the Palace of Versailles, Mont-Saint-Michel and the Vatican, Marc Jampolsky revisits the Sagrada Família imagined by the architect Antoni Gaudí through a documentary mixing real images and 3D images, thus putting technology at the service of his story.
Marc Jampolsky, né en 1956, est auteur et réalisateur français de nombreux documentaires sur l’archéologie, l’environnement et l’histoire. Après avoir percé les mystères architecturaux du château de Versailles, du Mont-Saint-Michel ou encore du Vatican, Marc Jampolsky revisite la Sagrada Família imaginée par l’architecte Antoni Gaudí à travers un documentaire mêlant images réelles et images 3D, mettant ainsi les technologies au service de son récit.
ولد مارك جامبولسكي عام ١٩٥٦. هو مؤلّف ومخرج فرنسيّ للعديد من الأفلام الوثائقية حول علم الآثار والبيئة والتاريخ. بعد كشف الألغاز المعمارية لقصر فرساي ومون سان ميشيل وأيضًا الفاتيكان، يسترجع مارك جامبولسكي ذكرى Sagrada Família التي تخيّلها المهندس المعماريّ أنطوني غاودي، من خلال فيلم وثائقيّ يخلط بين الصور الحقيقية والصور ثلاثية الأبعاد، واضعًا بذلك التقنيات في خدمة نصّه.

Abdul-Halim Jabr is an architect/urban design consultant. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from American University of Beirut (AUB), and a Master’s degree in Urban Studies and Housing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was a faculty member of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and at the American University of Beirut.
Jabr works actively on issues of urban design and governance in Greater Beirut, specifically in relation to the environment, old neighborhoods, and public places. Between March 2014 and November 2016, he served as an advisor to the Ministry of Culture with regard to heritage buildings in Beirut and was part of the team that drafted the new law for the protection of heritage. Since 2020, he has been a founding member of Beirut Heritage Initiative, a coalition of heritage NGOs actively protecting and restoring impacted homes and clusters in Gemmaizeh, Karantina and Mar Mikhael.
Abdul-Halim Jabr est architecte et consultant en aménagement urbain. Il est titulaire d’une licence en architecture de l’American University of Beirut (AUB), et d’une maîtrise en études urbaines et logement du Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Il a été membre de la faculté de l’Université du Saint-Esprit de Kaslik et de l’Université américaine de Beyrouth.
Jabre travaille activement sur les questions d’aménagement urbain et de gouvernance dans le Grand Beyrouth, notamment en fonction de l’environnement, des vieux quartiers et des lieux publics. Entre mars 2014 et novembre 2016, il a été conseiller du ministère de la Culture pour les bâtiments patrimoniaux de Beyrouth et a fait partie de l’équipe qui a rédigé la nouvelle loi pour la protection du patrimoine. Depuis 2020, il est membre fondateur de Beirut Heritage Initiative, une coalition d’ONG du patrimoine qui protège et restaure activement les maisons et les regroupements impactés à Gemmayzeh, la Quarantaine et Mar Mikhael.
عبد الحليم جبر مهندس معماريّ واستشاريّ في التخطيط الحضريّ. حائز على درجة البكالوريوس في الهندسة المعمارية من الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت (AUB)، ودرجة الماجستير في الدراسات الحضرية والإسكان من معهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا (MIT). كان عضوًا في هيئة التدريس في جامعة الروح القدس الكسليك والجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت.
يعمل جبر بنشاط في قضايا التخطيط الحضريّ والحوكمة في بيروت الكبرى، لا سيما في ما يتعلّق بالبيئة والأحياء القديمة والأماكن العامّة. بين آذار ٢٠١٤ وتشرين الثاني ٢٠١٦، عمل كمستشار لوزارة الثقافة في ما يخصّ المباني التراثية في بيروت، وكان عضوًا في الفريق الذي صاغ القانون الجديد لحماية التراث. منذ عام ٢٠٢٠، هو عضوّ مؤسّس لمبادرة بيروت للتراث Beirut Heritage Initiative، وهي تحالف المنظّمات غير الحكومية التي تهتمّ بالتراث، والتي تعمل بنشاط على حماية وترميم المنازل والتجمّعات المتضرّرة في الجميزة والكرنتينا ومار مخايل.
