The famous Belgian fashion designer Martin Margiela has built an image without a face, a figure without a body, a brand without a logo whose only distinctive sign has become an icon: four small white dots sewn onto the garment. No name. Nothing. While he refuses interviews, official photos and salutes at the end of the shows, the designer speaks here, showing only his hands, and guides us through his collections. He looks back on his journey from childhood to adulthood, on what led him to found Maison Martin Margiela and, after 20 years and 41 revolutionary collections, exhausted and disgusted, on what led him to leave the fashion world. In silence. Without public announcement. Mixed with the testimonies of close friends and family and an original music by dEUS, Margiela’s voice-over reveals the wonders and turpitude of creation.

Le célèbre couturier belge Martin Margiela a construit une image sans visage, une silhouette sans corps, une marque sans logo dont le seul signe distinctif est devenu culte : quatre petits points blancs cousus sur le vêtement. No name. Nothing. Alors qu’il refuse interviews, photos officielles et saluts à la fin des défilés, le créateur prend ici la parole, mais en ne montrant que ses mains, et nous guide à travers ses collections. Il revient sur son parcours depuis l’enfance jusqu’à l’âge adulte, sur ce qui l’a poussé à fonder la Maison Martin Margiela et, après 20 ans et 41 collections révolutionnaires, exténué et dégoûté, sur ce qui l’a conduit à quitter le monde de la mode. En silence. Sans annonce publique. Mêlée aux témoignages de proches et à une musique originale signée dEUS, la voix off de Margiela révèle les merveilles et turpitudes de la création.

Reiner Holzemer was born in 1958 in Germany; he lives in Munich.
1980 – 1990: Self-taught training as author, director, cameraman and editor of documentary films. Foundation of a group of independent filmmakers in Nuremberg. Co-directing, shooting and editing several documentaries on cultural, historical and social themes. In 1983, he founded the Reiner Holzemer Film Production. From 1985 to 1993, he teaches “Film” at the State Technical University in Nuremberg.
Until now Reiner Holzemer has realized more than 30 documentary films and artist portraits, mostly commissioned by ARD, ZDF and arte. The portraits of internationally renowned artists, especially in the field of photography, are still being shown worldwide at major museums and various film festivals. In 1997 he was awarded the city of Nuremberg´s Culture Grant. Since 2002, he is member by appointment of the German Society for Photography.
Reiner Holzemer est né en 1958 en Allemagne ; il vit à Munich. 1980 – 1990 : Formation autodidacte en tant qu’auteur, réalisateur, caméraman et monteur de films documentaires. Fondation d’un groupe de cinéastes indépendants à Nuremberg. Co-réalisation, tournage et montage de plusieurs documentaires sur des thèmes culturels, historiques et sociaux. En 1983, il fonde la Reiner Holzemer Film Production. De 1985 à 1993, il enseigne le cinéma à l’Université technique d’État de Nuremberg.
Reiner Holzemer a jusque-là réalisé plus de 30 films documentaires et portraits d’artistes, la plupart commandés par ARD, ZDF et Arte. Les portraits d’artistes de renommée internationale, notamment dans le domaine de la photographie, sont toujours présentés dans le monde entier dans de grands musées et plusieurs festivals de cinéma. En 1997, il a reçu la bourse culturelle de la ville de Nuremberg. Depuis 2002, il est membre par nomination de la Société allemande de photographie.
وُلد راينر هولزيمر عام ١٩٥٨ في ألمانيا؛ ويعيش في ميونيخ. تلقّى، بين ١٩٨٠ و١٩٩٠، تدريبًا عصاميًّا، كمؤلّف ومخرج ومصوّر ومحرّر أفلام وثائقية. أسّس مجموعة من المخرجين المستقلين في نورمبرغ. شارك في إخراج وتصوير ومونتاج العديد من الأفلام الوثائقية حول مواضيع ثقافية وتاريخية واجتماعية. في عام ١٩٨٣، أسّس شركةReiner Holzemer Film Production . ومن عام ١٩٨٥ حتى عام ١٩٩٣، قام بتدريس السينما في الجامعة التقنية الحكومية في نورمبرغ.
كان راينر هولزيمر، حتى حينها، قد أنتج أكثر من ٣٠ فيلمًا وثائقيًّا وأفلامًا تصوّر حياة فنّانين، معظمها بتكليف من ARD و ZDFوArte. لا تزال الأفلام المصوّرة عن حياة فنّانين مشهورين دوليًّا، خصوصًا في مجال التصوير الفوتوغرافيّ، تُعرض في جميع أنحاء العالم، في المتاحف الكبرى وكذلك في العديد من مهرجانات السينما. في عام ١٩٩٧، حصل على المنحة الثقافية من مدينة نورمبرغ. ومنذ عام ٢٠٠٢، هو عضو بالتعيين في جمعية التصوير الألمانية

Fifi Abou Dib, journalist and author, lives and works in Beirut. In 1986, she joined L’Orient-le Jour (a French-speaking Lebanese daily newspaper) where she has been writing the weekly column Impression since 2000. She became fashion editor of the newspaper and literary critic for the monthly L’Orient littéraire. Between 2009 and 2019, Fifi Abou Dib was also editor-in-chief of the bimonthly magazine L’Officiel-Levant.
Fifi Abou Dib est journaliste et auteure ; elle vit et travaille à Beyrouth. En 1986, elle entre à L’Orient-le Jour (quotidien libanais de langue française) où depuis 2000 elle signe la chronique hebdomadaire Impression, devient rédactrice mode du journal et critique littéraire au mensuel L’Orient littéraire. Entre 2009 et 2019, Fifi Abou Dib a également été rédactrice en chef du magazine bimestriel L’Officiel-Levant.
فيفي أبو ديب صحافية وكاتبة؛ تعيش وتعمل في بيروت. في عام ١٩٨٦، إنضمّت إلى L’Orient-le Jour (وهي صحيفة يومية لبنانية تصدر باللغة الفرنسية)، حيث، ومنذ عام ٢٠٠٠، تكتب فيها العمود الأسبوعيّ Impression، كما أصبحت محرّرة الموضة في الصحيفة، وناقدة أدبية في الملحق الشهريّ L’Orient littéraire. بين عامي ٢٠٠٩ و٢٠١٩، تولّت فيفي أبو ديب رئاسة تحرير مجلة L’Officiel-Levant التي تصدر كلّ شهرين
