ENG. Seville, 1618. Diego Velázquez paints Christ in the House of Martha and Mary. In the foreground of the painting, a small red pepper catches the eye. From Seville to Mexico City, from Madrid to the valleys of Oaxaca, this documentary recounts the adventures, conquests, tragic experiences and artistic inventions that allowed this pepper to appear in the painting of the great 17th century Spanish painter.

De Séville à Mexico, de Madrid aux vallées de l’Oaxaca, ce documentaire retrace les aventures, les conquêtes, les expériences tragiques et les inventions artistiques qui ont permis à ce piment d’apparaître dans le tableau du grand peintre espagnol du 17ème siècle.
إشبيلية، ١٦١٨. رَسَمَ دييغو فيلاسكيز المسيح في بيت مارتا ومريم. في مقدمة اللوحة، يلفت نظرنا فلفل أحمر صغير. من إشبيلية إلى المكسيك، ومن مدريد إلى وديان أواكساكا، يسترجع هذا الفيلم الوثائقيّ المغامرات والفتوحات والتجارب المأساوية والاختراعات الفنية التي سمحت لهذا الفلفل بالظهور في لوحة الرسّام الإسبانيّ الشهير الذي عاش في القرن السابع عشر.

Nicolas Autheman is a French writer, director and producer born in 1982. a dozen documentaries and audiovisual installations for museum exhibitions are to his credit. He founded in 2018 the production company Minimum Moderne with which he develops his own projects of documentary creations and fictions.
After studying political science, he wrote and directed his first documentary film in 2011 about pilgrims lost in religious gatherings in India: Les Egarés du Gange. He then worked for two years for the Arte collection L’Europe des écrivains; before directing in 2016 Le Douanier Rousseau, l’éclosion moderne, a portrait of the naive painter related to the exhibition devoted to him by the Musée d’Orsay. In 2018, he wrote and co-directed Réfugiés, un marché sous influence, a wide-ranging investigation focusing on the privatization of refugee camps around the world. His last two documentaries are Le Chapeau de Vermeer and Le Piment de Velasquez.
Nicolas Autheman est un auteur, réalisateur et producteur français né en 1982. Auteur d’une dizaine de documentaires et d’installations audiovisuelles dans le cadre d’expositions muséographiques, il fonde en 2018 la société de production Minimum Moderne avec laquelle il développe ses propres projets de créations documentaires et de fictions.
Après des études de sciences politiques, il écrit et réalise son premier film documentaire en 2011 consacré aux pèlerins perdus dans les rassemblements religieux en Inde : Les Egarés du Gange. Il travaille ensuite pendant deux ans pour la collection d’Arte L’Europe des écrivains ; avant de réaliser en 2016 Le Douanier Rousseau, l’éclosion moderne, portrait du peintre naïf en lien avec l’exposition que lui consacra le Musée d’Orsay. En 2018, il écrit et co-réalise Réfugiés, un marché sous influence, une large enquête consacrée à la privatisation des camps de réfugiés dans le monde. Ses deux derniers documentaires sont Le Chapeau de Vermeer et Le Piment de Vélasquez.
ولد نيكولا أوثمان عام ١٩٨٢. هو مؤلّف ومخرج ومنتج فرنسيّ، ومؤلّف لعشرات الأفلام الوثائقية والمنشآت السمعية البصرية في إطار المعارض في المتاحف. في عام ٢٠١٨، أسّس شركة الإنتاج Minimum Moderne التي طوّر من خلالها مشاريعه الخاصة لإنتاج الأفلام الوثائقية والروايات. بعد دراسة العلوم السياسية، كتب وأخرج أوّل فيلم وثائقيّ له في عام ٢٠١١: Les Egarés du Gange والذي خصّصه للحجاج الضائعين في التجمّعات الدينية في الهند. ثمّ عمل لمدة عامين في مجموعة Arte L’Europe des écrivains؛ قبل إخراج فيلم Le Douanier Rousseau, l’éclosion moderneفي عام ٢٠١٦، وهو صورة للرسّام الساذج ذات صلة بالمعرض الذي كرّسه له متحف أورسيه. في عام ٢٠١٨، كتب وشارك في إخراج Réfugiés, un marché sous influence، وهو تحقيق واسع بشأن خصخصة مخيمات اللاجئين في العالم. والفيلمان الوثائقيان الأخيران كانا: Le Chapeau de VermeerوLe Piment de Vélasquez.

Christian Taoutel is the director of the history department at USJ. He is also the director of the USJ archives and the curator of the Jesuit Archives of the Near East.
Author and co-author of several books on the history of Lebanon, he has also received numerous international distinctions.
Christian Taoutel est le directeur du département d’histoire de l’USJ. Il est également directeur des archives de l’USJ et Conservateur des Archives Jésuites du Proche-Orient.
Auteur et coauteur de plusieurs ouvrages sur l’histoire du Liban, il a également reçu nombreuses distinctions internationales.
كريستيان توتل هو مدير قسم التاريخ في جامعة القديس يوسف. وهو أيضًا مدير أرشيف جامعة القديس يوسف وأمين الأرشيف اليسوعي للشرق الأدنى.
ألّف وشارك في تأليف العديد من الكتب عن تاريخ لبنان ، كما نال العديد من الجوائز الدولية.
