The iconic dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey has finally been given the film he deserves. The founder of the New York-based Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is one of the most innovative artists in his field ever, and he will always stand as one of the greatest renewers of modern dance. But the man himself remains a mystery. A complex human being who deeply dedicated himself to dance and to his company, but also a tormented soul, who as a gay black man fought a lonely battle on several fronts.
