ENG. Macbeth is Shakespeare’s horror movie. It’s one of his most taut, visceral and compelling plays – it grips you from beginning to end.
We don’t know much about Shakespeare’s original productions, but we think that Macbeth was first performed in a smaller indoor venue – it was always written with an intimate dialogue between audience and actor in mind. In a way, there’s no more intimate form than the cinema screen. Our camera gives you unparalleled access. Although we honed this production in warehouses to over a thousand people a night, presenting it onscreen allows unprecedented access to the inner lives of all the characters in the play – the camera gives you an opportunity to get into the heart of this extraordinary story in a completely new way.
FR. Macbeth est le film d’horreur de Shakespeare. C’est l’une de ses pièces les plus tendues, les plus viscérales et les plus fascinantes, qui vous saisit du début à la fin.
Nous ne savons pas grand-chose des productions originales de Shakespeare, mais nous pensons que Macbeth a été jouée pour la première fois dans une petite salle – la pièce a toujours été écrite dans l’optique d’un dialogue intime entre le public et l’acteur. D’une certaine manière, il n’y a pas de forme plus intime que l’écran de cinéma. Notre caméra vous donne un accès inégalé. Bien que nous ayons peaufiné cette production dans des entrepôts devant plus de mille personnes par soir, la présenter à l’écran permet un accès sans précédent à la vie intérieure de tous les personnages de la pièce – la caméra vous donne l’occasion de pénétrer au cœur de cette histoire extraordinaire d’une manière tout à fait nouvelle.
