ENG. 130 years after the debut of Marius Petipa and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, Christian Spuck, the director of the Zurich Opera House, embarks on a modern reinterpretation of the beloved Sleeping Beauty. Infused with humor and irony, Spuck’s vision breathes fresh life into this timeless fairy tale. From audacious choreography to lavish costumes, the selection of youthful dancers to the creation of sumptuous stage settings, and the mellifluous notes of the Zurich Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by the Lithuanian maestro Robertas Šervenikas, everything converges into a harmonious tapestry of fantasy and poetry. This spectacular production promises to captivate the hearts of dance, music, design, and stage lovers alike.

Avec humour et ironie, il revisite le conte de fée : de la chorégraphie audacieuse aux costumes opulents ; du choix des danseurs juniors aux décors somptueux ; de l’orchestre de la Philharmonie de Zurich sous la direction du Lithuanien Robertas Šervenikas au génie de Pyotr Tchaikovsky ; tout ici est fantaisie, poésie et harmonie, pour le plus grand bonheur des amoureux de la danse, de la musique, du design, de la scène…

Choreographer

Christian Spuck began his dance career with Jan Lauwers’ Needcompany and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s Ensemble Rosas. In 1995 he became a member of the Stuttgart Ballet and served as the company’s resident choreographer from 2001 to 2012. Since the 2012, he has been director of Ballett Zürich. With Winterreise, premiered in October 2018 in Zurich, Christian Spuck was awarded with the «Prix Benois de la Danse 2019». He has been appointed Artistic Director of Staatsballett Berlin as of the 2023/24 season.

Christian Spuck a commencé sa carrière de danseur avec la Needcompany de Jan Lauwers et l’Ensemble Rosas d’Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker. En 1995, il est devenu membre du Ballet de Stuttgart et a été le chorégraphe résident de la compagnie de 2001 à 2012. Depuis 2012, il est directeur du Ballett Zürich., Christian Spuck a été récompensé par le «Prix Benois de la Danse 2019« pour Winterreise, créé en octobre 2018 à Zurich. Il a été nommé directeur artistique du Staatsballett Berlin à partir de la saison 2023/24.
