ENG. Fouad Elkoury by Fouad is an insightful documentary devoted to the work and life of Lebanese photographer Fouad Elkoury, born in Beirut in 1952. Through his personal archives, the film delves into the artist’s career as a war reporter and witness to the conflicts of the Middle East, leading to a reflection on the intimate and the collective. Beyond the images of war, the photographer reveals his quest for meaning, his relationship with memory and time. A portrayal that reveals a deep desire for beauty in the darkest corners of history.

FR. Fouad Elkoury by Fouad est un documentaire introspectif consacré à l’œuvre et à la vie de Fouad Elkoury, photographe libanais, né à Beyrouth en 1952. À travers ses archives personnelles, le film explore le parcours de l’artiste, reporter de guerre, témoin des conflits du Moyen-Orient, ouvrant à une réflexion sur l’intime et le collectif. Au-delà des images de guerre, le photographe se révèle et nous révèle sa quête de sens, son rapport à la mémoire et au temps. Un portrait qui dévoile un profond désir de beauté dans les recoins les plus sombres de l’histoire.

 فؤاد الخوري، بعدسة فؤاد هو فيلم وثائقي يتناول أعمال المصوّر اللبناني فؤاد خوري وحياته، وهو المولود في بيروت في العام 1952. يغوص الفيلم في مسار هذا الفنان الذي أخذ دور موثّق الحرب والشاهد على النزاعات في الشرق الأوسط، انطلاقًا من أرشيف الفنان الخاص، فاتحًا الباب للتأمّل في ما هو خاص وما هو عام. وبعيدًا عن صور الحرب، يقدّم المصوّر نفسه، كاشفًا لنا عن بحثه عن المعنى وعلاقته بالذاكرة والوقت. إنها اللوحة التي تسلّط الضوء على رغبةٍ عميقةٍ بتتبع الجمال في أحلك زوايا التاريخ.

ENG. Kamy Pakdel was born in Teheran, but left at the age of 10.
A designer and graphic artist, he soon became passionate about publishing, where he made his career. In 2001, he became artistic director of Editions Autrement, then of Editions Intervalles from 2005 to 2009.
A long-standing friend of photographer Abbas Attar, in 2002 he published Iran-Diary 1971-2001, a landmark book on the Iranian revolution featuring Abbas’s photographs; then in 2010 The Fight, featuring Abbas’s photos of the legendary fight between Mohamed Ali and George Foreman. The collaboration between the two men comes to life one last time in 2019 with the legacy documentary Abbas by Abbas. Competing for the Prix Mitrani and the Grand Prix du documentaire national at Fipadoc, the film was selected for numerous festivals, and received the Grand Prix at the MIFAC festival.
In 2023, he directed the film Fouad Elkoury par Fouad.

FR. Kamy Pakdel est né à Téhéran, qu’il quitte à l’âge de 10 ans.
Designer et graphiste, il se passionne très tôt pour l’édition dans laquelle il fait carrière. En 2001, il est directeur artistique des éditions Autrement, puis des éditions Intervalles de 2005 à 2009.
Ami de longue date du photographe Abbas Attar, il publie en 2002 Iran-Diary 1971-2001, livre phare sur la révolution iranienne avec les photographies d’Abbas ; puis en 2010 The Fight, avec les photos d’Abbas lors du combat mythique entre Mohamed Ali et George Foreman.
La collaboration entre les deux hommes s’incarne une dernière fois en 2019 dans le documentaire-testament Abbas by Abbas. En compétition au prix Mitrani et pour le Grand Prix du documentaire national au Fipadoc, le film a été sélectionné dans de multiples festivals, et a reçu le Grand Prix du festival MIFAC.
En 2023, il réalise le film Fouad Elkoury par Fouad.

كامي باكديل وُلد في طهران وغادرها في سن العاشرة.
مُصمّم وفنان غرافيكي، أبدى في سنٍ مبكّرةٍ شغفًا بعالم النشر الذي امتهنه. في العام 2001، تولى الإدارة الفنية في دار النشر أوترومون ثم دار أنترفال بين عامي 2005 و2009. وانطلاقًا من علاقة الصداقة الطويلة التي ربطته مع المصوّر عباس عطار، نشر عام 2002 يوميات إيران، 1971-2001، وهو كتاب يتناول الثورة الإيرانية مستعينًا بالصور الفوتوغرافية التي التقطها عباس عطار، ومن ثم في العام 2010 المبارزة الذي يتضمن صور عباس عطار ويدور حول المباراة الأسطورية بين محمد علي وجورج فورمان. كما تجسّد التعاون بين هذين الرجلين للمرة الأخيرة في العام 2019 ضمن الفيلم الوثائقي عباس كما يرويه عباس حيث يقدّم الرجل شهادته. ترشّح الفيلم لجائزة ميتراني وجائزة الأفلام الوثائقية الكبرى فيبادوك وقد شارك في العديد من المهرجانات وحصد الجائزة الكبرى في مهرجان سوق الأفلام الدولي للفنانين المعاصرين.
في العام 2023، أخرج فيلم فؤاد الخوري بعدسة فؤاد.
