ENG. Based on Gustave Flaubert’s masterpiece, Emma Bovary is a ballet by German dancer and choreographer Christian Spuck, head of Berlin’s prestigious Staatsballett. For Spuck, Emma Bovary embodies the universal desire to reinvent oneself, a topic he investigates through dance. By blending classical ballet with contemporary elements such as video, the choreographer seeks to capture the novel’s timeless modernity. The music, an ingenious mix of past and present, perfectly complements this journey, while the costumes, playing on contrasts with the set, add to the visual richness of the choreography. The result is an astonishingly inventive ballet, showing how literature is made into movement.

FR. Adapté du chef-d’œuvre de Gustave Flaubert, Emma Bovary est un ballet signé Christian Spuck, danseur et chorégraphe allemand à la tête du prestigieux Staatsballett de Berlin. Pour Spuck, Emma Bovary incarne le désir universel de se réinventer, un thème qu’il explore à travers la danse. En mêlant ballet classique et éléments contemporains tels que la vidéo, le chorégraphe cherche à capturer la modernité intemporelle du roman. La musique, un collage ingénieux entre le passé et le présent, accompagne parfaitement cette exploration, tandis que les costumes, jouant sur les contrastes avec le décor, ajoutent à la richesse visuelle de cette chorégraphie. Le résultat est un ballet étonnant d’inventivité, montrant comment la littérature se fait mouvement.

هو عملٌ مقتبسٌ من رائعة غوستاف فلوبير إيما بوفاري، في عرض باليه لكريستيان سبوك، الراقص ومصمم الرقص الألماني الذي يقود فرقة ستاتس باليه المرموقة في برلين. يرى سبوك في إيما بوفاري تجسيدًا لرغبةٍ سائدة في العالم في إعادة ابتكار الذات، وهو الموضوع الذي يستكشفه من خلال الرقص. فيمزج مصمم الرقصات بين الباليه الكلاسيكي وعناصر معاصرة مثل الفيديو، سعيًا إلى إبراز جانب الحداثة الخالد في هذه الرواية. ترافق الموسيقى، التي تبرع في المزج بين الماضي والحاضر، هذه الرحلة بدقةٍ، بينما تضيف الأزياء، التي تلعب على وتر التناقضات مع الديكور، من الثراء البصري لهذا العمل الراقص. والنتيجة هي لوحة باليه ملؤها الابتكار، تُظهر كيف يخرج الأدب من بين الصفحات متحركًا.

ENG. Christian Spuck began his dance career with Jan Lauwers’ Needcompany and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s Ensemble Rosas. In 1995 he became a member of the Stuttgart Ballet and served as the company’s resident choreographer from 2001 to 2012. Since the 2012, he has been director of Ballett Zürich. With Winterreise, premiered in October 2018 in Zurich, Christian Spuck was awarded with the « Prix Benois de la Danse 2019 ». He has been appointed Artistic Director of Staatsballett Berlin as of the 2023/24 season. Emma Bovary is his first creation for the German ballet.

FR. Christian Spuck a commencé sa carrière de danseur avec la Needcompany de Jan Lauwers et l’Ensemble Rosas d’Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker. En 1995, il est devenu membre du Ballet de Stuttgart et a été le chorégraphe résident de la compagnie de 2001 à 2012. Depuis 2012, il est directeur du Ballett Zürich., Christian Spuck a été récompensé par le « Prix Benois de la Danse 2019 » pour Winterreise, créé en octobre 2018 à Zurich. Il a été nommé directeur artistique du Staatsballett Berlin à partir de la saison 2023/24. Emma Bovary est sa première création pour le ballet allemand.
