ENG. L’Amatore, the first feature film by Italian director Maria Mauti, delves into the life of Italian architect Piero Portaluppi through his 16mm film footage, which has never been seen before. Part historical account, part diary, the film reveals the twofold nature of a man whose influence on Fascist architecture contrasts with his sense of irony in the face of the upheavals of his time. By reinterpreting these archive images, this documentary depicts a multi-faceted man and examines the complex relationship between memory, architecture and identity.
FR. Premier long-métrage de l’italienne Maria Mauti, L’Amatore plonge dans la vie de l’architecte italien Piero Portaluppi à travers ses images filmées en 16 mm, restées dans l’ombre. Entre récit historique et journal intime, le film révèle la dualité d’un homme dont l’influence sur l’architecture fasciste contraste avec son ironie face aux bouleversements de son temps. En réinterprétant ces images d’archives, ce documentaire dresse le portrait d’un homme aux multiples facettes tout en explorant les relations complexes entre mémoire, architecture et identité.
العاشق هو أول فيلم روائي طويل للمخرجة الإيطالية ماريا ماوتي، تتعمق فيه في حياة المعماري الإيطالي بييرو بورتالوبي مستعينةً بلقطاتٍ صوّرها بكاميرا قطر 16 ملم، وبقيت لأعوامٍ طي النسيان. وبين سردٍ تاريخيٍ ومذكراتٍ خاصةٍ، يكشف الفيلم عن ازدواجية هذا الرجل الذي يتناقض تأثيره على العمارة الفاشية مع سخريته من الاضطرابات التي شهدها عصره. يعيد هذا الوثائقي النظر في صور الأرشيف ليرسم معالم صورةٍ عن هذا الرجل متعدد الأوجه، ويستكشف العلاقات المعقدة بين الذاكرة والعمارة والهوية.

ENG. Maria Mauti was born in Milan in 1974 and she graduated in Philosophy. She is a documentary filmmaker and since 2003 she has collaborated with the satellite channel, Classica that airs on Sky, writing and directing programs on contemporary Italian music, opera and dance.
She has made several documentaries on influential people in the arts and culture including Daniel Barenboim, Carolyn Carlson, Pina Bausch, Antonio Pappano, Bill T. Jones (documentary selected at the American Dance Festival), Fabio Vacchi and Ermanno Olmi, Azio Corghi and José Saramago, Alicia Alonso of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, and Meredith Monk, to name a few.
The film, L’Amatore is her first feature-length film.
FR. Maria Mauti est née à Milan en 1974 et est diplômée en philosophie. Documentariste, elle collabore depuis 2003 avec la chaîne satellite Classica, diffusée sur Sky, où elle écrit et réalise des programmes sur la musique, l’opéra et la danse italiens contemporains.
Elle a filmé plusieurs documentaires sur des personnalités influentes du monde des arts et de la culture, notamment Daniel Barenboim, Carolyn Carlson, Pina Bausch, Antonio Pappano, Bill T. Jones (documentaire sélectionné à l’American Dance Festival), Fabio Vacchi et Ermanno Olmi, Azio Corghi et José Saramago, Alicia Alonso du Ballet Nacional de Cuba et Meredith Monk, pour n’en citer que quelques-uns.
Le film L’Amatore est son premier long métrage.
ماريا ماوتي وُلدت في ميلانو في العام 1974 وحصلت على شهادةٍ بالفلسفة. وهي مخرجة أفلام وثائقية تتعاون منذ العام 2003 مع شبكة كلاسيكا الفضائية التي تبث عبر القمر الصناعي سكاي، حيث تتولى كتابة وإخراج برامج تتناول مجالات الموسيقى والأوبرا والرقص الإيطالية المعاصرة.
صوّرت العديد من الأفلام الوثائقية التي تتناول عدد من الشخصيات المؤثّرة في عالم الفن والثقافة، من بينها دانييل بارينبويم وكارولين كارلسون وبينا باوش وأنطونيو بابانو وبيل تي جونز (الفيلم الذي اختير في مهرجان الرقص الأمريكي) وفابيو فاكّي وإيرمانو أولمي وآتزيو كورغي وخوسيه ساراماغو وأليسيا ألونسو من فرقة الباليه الوطنية الكوبية ومريديث مونك، وغيرها الكثير من الأسماء.
أما في العاشق فهو أول فيلم طويل لها.
