ENG. Elias Rahbani – ثالث الرحابنة is a documentary that sheds light on the life, career and legacy of Lebanese composer Elias Rahbani (1938 – 2021). Thanks to rich personal archives and numerous interviews, director Feyrouz Serhal reflects on the career of Assi and Mansour’s little brother, his rise on the Lebanese and Arab music scene, before he became the third Rahbani.

FR. Elias Rahbani – ثالث الرحابنة est un documentaire biographique qui met en lumière la vie, la carrière et l’héritage du compositeur libanais Elias Rahbani (1938 – 2021). À l’aide de riches archives personnelles et de nombreuses interviews, la réalisatrice Feyrouz Serhal revient sur le parcours du petit frère de Assi et Mansour, sur son ascension sur la scène musicale libanaise et arabe, avant de devenir le troisième Rahbani.

Film Director

Feyrouz Serhal has written and directed several independent short video works, her short narrative film Tshweesh won The Film Prize of Robert Bosch Stiftung in 2016 and it was premiered in Locarno Film Festival in 2017. Tshweesh has screened in more than 80 festivals around the world and won a dozen of prizes. In 2023 Feyrouz finished two short fiction films: I Come from the Sea that premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2023, and Sen Ti. In 2023 she also directed The Third of the Rahbanis a feature documentary produced by Al Jazeera Documentary Channel about the life of Lebanese composer Elias Rahbani. She is now working on her first narrative feature film I Am Here but You Can’t See Me.

Feyrouz Serhal a écrit et réalisé plusieurs courtes œuvres vidéo indépendantes. Son court métrage narratif Tshweesh a remporté le Prix du film de la Robert Bosch Stiftung en 2016 et a été présenté en avant-première au Festival du Film de Locarno en 2017. Tshweesh a été projeté dans plus de 80 festivals à travers le monde et a reçu une douzaine de prix. En 2023, Feyrouz a terminé deux courts métrages de fiction : I Come from the Sea, dont la première a eu lieu au Festival International du Film de Shanghai en juin 2023, et SEN TI. En 2023, elle a également réalisé The Third of the Rahbanis, un long métrage documentaire produit par Al Jazeera Documentary Channel sur la vie du compositeur libanais Elias Rahbani. Elle travaille actuellement sur son premier long métrage, I Am Here but You Can’t See Me.

فيروز سرحال كتبت وأخرجت العديد من فيديو الأعمال القصيرة المستقلة. حصد فيلمها القصير الروائي “تشويش” جائزة مهرجان مؤسسة روبرت بوش شتيفتونغ للأفلام في العام 2016 وقد عُرض في العرض الأول في مهرجان لوكارنو السنيمائي في العام 2017. كما عُرض فيلم “تشويش” في أكثر من ثمانين مهرجان في العالم وحصد 12 جائزة. في العام 2023 أكملت فيروز فيلمين خياليين قصيرين: “انا يا بحر منك” الذي عّرض للمرة الأولى في مهرجان شنغهاي السينمائي الدولي في حزيران 2023 و”IT NES”. كما أخرجت في العام 2023 الوثائقي الطويل “ثالث الرحابنة” من إنتاج قناة الجزيرة الوثائقية ويتناول حياة المؤلف الموسيقي اللبناني إلياس الرحباني. وهي تعمل حالياً على أول فيلم طويل لها “هنا ولا تراني“.
